Why study philosophy, religion and ethics?
Philosophy, religion and ethics is a subject considered by many sixth forms, colleges and universities to be one of the core fundamental pathways into understanding our world and the people within it. It is held in high regard. This subject if for those who have a love of understanding the wider world and want to tackle major world problems with debate and discussion.
What will I learn?
The course will cover core fundamental beliefs of Islam and Christianity; specifically applying them to moral issues such as abortion, euthanasia, reasons for war, terrorism, crime and punishment, and many more.
Philosophy, religion and ethics prepares pupils well for the moral and ethical challenges of the modern world. Students will develop skills that would be well-regarded within a law setting, as well as journalism, due to the analytical practices learnt. The communication skills learnt would also work extremely well within any element of the public sector, such as the police, due to the nature of discussion and debate.
