Extended sixth form offer

In order to strengthen and diversify opportunities for young people in Hucknall, The Holgate sixth form and the National Sixth Form Centre have formed a collaborative partnership between their respective sixth forms.

The goal of the partnership is to maximise the opportunities for all 16-19 students by ensuring they have access to the broadest possible curriculum, whether this is a purely academic route or a mix of vocational and academic subjects.

A unique feature of the partnership is that each school or academy retains its independent identity and ethos. Students gain the advantage of belonging to an institution which will support them through the sixth form and give them all necessary pastoral care and tutorial support whilst utilising the partnership to give them a more extensive range of opportunities.

A broader academic choice

The extended sixth form offer allows students to access one course from the partner school as part of their academic programme of study, that is not offered at their home academy. This selection will enable students to benefit from the professional expertise of a much more diverse range of academic staff and give a broader range of qualifications for students to choose from.

Extended enrichment opportunities

As well being able to offer a wider range of academic courses, this partnership will allow our post 16 students to access further super-curricular and extra-curricular experiences. This may include inter-sixth form sports, clubs and educational visits.
